What can be more leisurely than a day improving your handicap amidst the stunning backdrop of the Hope Valley and the beautiful Peak District? As you can imagine in this rural and peaceful setting there are more golf clubs than you can shake your putter at!
Altogether there are around 34 golf courses in and around Hope Valley and the Peak District so you really are spoiled for choice. Sickleholme Golf Club on the outskirts of the picturesque village of Bamford extends a warm welcome to guest golfers, although they do advise that you call first as it can get very busy during peak times. The course itself is renowned for having some of the greatest views of the surrounding valleys and countryside, especially from the elevated 18th tee and the view from the 13th tee is so splendid that one golfer actually had it painted so that he could hang it above his mantelpiece!
For a more unusual golf course try the Hope Construction Materials Golf Club in Hope. The course was formerly part of the cement manufacturer's operational site. The land has been fully restored to make way for a professional golf course. Apparently it’s not an easy course to get around and some of the holes are quite interesting, but if you want a challenge then this is the course to head for! The club requests that visitors telephone ahead on 01433 622315. You can also visit their website by clicking below.
Chatsworth Golf Club in Bakewell, just outside the Hope Valley, is one of the smallest courses at just 9 holes. However, it does have the advantage of being set in stunning parklands which are part of the Chatsworth estate. This is a members only club, and applications for membership can be made to the club secretary
For spectacular golf courses then a holiday in the Hope Valley scores a definite hole in one! Come and try them out for yourself!
