There's plenty for the children to do too, with the fantastic new skate park in Hathersage, the open air gym in Hope, fantastic parks and open spaces everywhere for them to kick balls about, run off some steam and have fun and with a number of youth clubs and groups all over the Valley as well, not to mention Hathersage's famous lido with its range of family fun activities, there's never a reason for the kids to be bored.
Pass by the river on a balmy summer evening and find us floating rubber ducks downstream and cheering them on! Join the fun on the local playing fields with hog roasts, stalls, fun and games and live music. Get together with a few friends and join in a treasure hunt. Learn how to spin wool. Watch the local sheepdog trials or perhaps the alpaca competition.
Coconut shy, maypole dancing, fancy dress, parades, ice cream (locally made, naturally) and of course the world famous Well Dressings...make a note in your diary to sample at least one of the fantastic Hope Valley Galas this year.
Enjoy a range of seasonal events too - fancy taking a spooky Halloween tour? Or maybe you'd enjoy singing Christmas carols from inside a cathedral like cave (marvellous acoustics!), accompanying us on Lantern Walks, watching the Bonfire Night fireworks and tucking into tasty baked potatoes. Perhaps you'd like to join experts on nature walks to learn about the local wildlife, flora and fauna or join them on hikes to discover the hidden side of the Hope Valley...
